This year’s (113) International Women’s Day celebrations review the evolution of women’s economic power in various stages of Taiwan’s modern times. In addition to demonstrating the contribution of women’s economic power, it also focuses on four main axes: women’s consciousness, economic independence, public-private collaboration, and equal rights. , encouraging women to break through the framework and bravely pursue their goals.

The historical archive video played at the opening of this press conference shows the contribution and contribution of Taiwanese women to the social economy in the past. Li Lifen, deputy minister of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, emphasized that in order to support women to have more freedom and possibilities in choosing to participate in employment, the Ministry of Health and Welfare continues to expand the capacity of public childcare, promote quasi-public service mechanisms, double childcare subsidies, and increase childcare subsidies. , to create an affordable and high-quality childcare environment. It is expected that by 2013 there will be more than 555 public childcare facilities, providing 17,556 childcare places; more than 22,045 home-based nannies have been contracted, and more than 1,059 private childcare centers have been contracted, taking care of more than 52,000 people. Starting from 2013, the cost of childcare per child has been reduced from 10% to 15% of the family’s disposable income to 5% to 10%, and the government’s subsidy for childcare in public childcare facilities has been increased to 7,000 yuan. The subsidy for sending children to quasi-public childcare institutions will be increased to NT$13,000 to expand the government’s financial support to families with children.

In addition, as the population ages and the number of families with care needs increases, the long-term care fund has increased year by year from 40 billion yuan to 82.82 billion yuan in 2013, and the coverage rate of long-term care needs services has also increased to nearly 80% to reduce the care burden on families. Let today’s women no longer have to experience the situation in the past when women were forced to leave the labor market because of marriage, pregnancy, childbirth or caregiving.

According to statistics from the Accountant General Office of the Executive Yuan, the female labor force participation rate has increased from 46.59% in 2002 to 51.61% in 2022. The occupational structure of female employees has also undergone slight changes. Nearly 60% of women are engaged in public opinion work. Representatives, supervisors, professional and technical personnel and other occupations. It shows that more and more women are willing to join all walks of life, including the technology industry, micro-entrepreneurship, and senior corporate managers. No matter how women’s roles change, they have never been absent from social and economic contributions.
