Dana Storm Brings Rain, Hail, and Saharan Dust to Spain

spain is bracing for a stormy afternoon as a Dana weather system moves across the Iberian Peninsula.The State Meteorology agency (Aemet) has issued warnings for multiple regions, anticipating rain, hail, and the arrival of saharan dust. This weather pattern follows a period of intense heat.
The approaching Dana storm is expected to carry Saharan dust, giving the sky a distinctive whitish hue. Warnings are in effect from noon until the end of the day for Asturias, Cantabria, the basque Country, Aragon, parts of Catalonia and Navarra, La Rioja, the Community of Madrid, northern Córdoba, Palencia, and León.
Rays and Hail Expected
The risk of lightning strikes will increase throughout the day, particularly in central and northern regions during the early afternoon. Authorities recommend caution due to the elevated risk of fires and potential overloads of electronic devices.
Meteored warns of a high probability of large hail and strong downdrafts,with winds exceeding 55 mph,associated with the storms. Aemet may issue additional warnings as the afternoon progresses. Despite the storms, temperatures are forecast to reach 95°F in central and southern areas.

Thursday’s Forecast
The Dana system is expected to dissipate by Thursday as it merges with a trough. While instability may linger in the northwest, southern and eastern regions should see a return to more stable conditions.Rain probability will decrease to 40%, with minimal accumulation, and temperatures are expected to range from 63°F to 84°F.
