More individuals are entering the well-being profession, spurred ⁣by accessible training programs. These new practitioners are addressing an increasing demand in a sought-after field.

Accountant, ⁣dental surgeon, and social worker: these were the previous ‍professions of three individuals⁤ who, around the start of the pandemic, decided to launch their own businesses focused on well-being. Their disciplines vary—sophrology, reiki, art ⁣therapy—but their goal is the same: to ⁤reconnect with ⁤their values by helping others. For them, and for many others⁤ in France, the health crisis played a significant ⁤role in their career transitions.

“The⁣ COVID-19 pandemic helped us ‍understand things and accelerated the process,” saeid Cécile Ledevin, a former ‍dental surgeon in Poitiers who now practices Caycedian ⁣sophrology. Emmanuelle Fleury,⁤ an art therapist in Bonneuil-Matours, echoed this sentiment.‌ “As a⁢ social worker, I realized during lockdown⁤ that my ⁢job no longer ⁢aligned with my values. I had been considering a career change for some time, but I didn’t dare to take the leap,” she‌ said.

Anne-Laure dumas, a former ⁣accountant who now works as ⁣a⁢ sophrologist and energy therapist in Montamisé, shared a⁤ similar experience.

An Accessible Sector

“I always knew I would do something different, and I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I wanted to⁢ help others,⁢ so I⁢ considered transitioning to a field that is growing,” Dumas⁣ said. ‍This ‌decision aligns with increasing needs⁣ in the well-being sector. “There are more requests for well-being services. People want to improve their lives ⁤and have identified their needs,” Dumas⁤ noted.

The ⁢well-being sector is attractive, and training is readily ⁣available. After ⁣a skills⁢ assessment, Dumas completed six ⁣months of sophrology training, funded ⁤through her personal training account. She further expanded her knowledge⁤ with⁢ training in ‌reiki, energy therapy, and family constellations. Fleury pursued “recognized art therapy ⁢training” at a medical college, followed by body molding ‍training in Paris. Ledevin trained in sophrology⁤ while still working as a dental surgeon, a process that took‍ two ⁢years.

While training‍ might potentially⁢ be accessible, establishing a business and ⁢building a ‍client base can be challenging. Dumas,⁣ a mother of ⁤a 6-year-old, currently⁣ practices ⁤in a dedicated room in‍ her home and is not yet‍ able to fully support herself ⁢through her practice. She has had to take a part-time job to “make ends ‌meet” while she works to build her practice. Competition is strong, but Ledevin ⁢sees⁢ this as a ‌positive sign.”People’s ⁢well-being requires complementary practices to traditional medicine,” she said.
