WhatsApp looks set to borrow another status feature from Instagram
In the latest WhatsApp Android beta update, the messaging platform was spotted testing Instagram-like stickers for its Status update. The new stickers will help WhatsApp users make their Status updates more attractive and interactive.
As spotted in WhatsApp Android beta v2.24.23.21, an interactive “Add Yours” sticker is said to be in development. Originally, these stickers were introduced to Instagram in 2021. The “Add Yours” sticker allowed Instagram users to create public threads in Stories, and is now ready to be ported to WhatsApp.
WhatsApp “Add Yours” stickers allow users to create interactive challenges or prompts in their status updates. According to WABetaInfo, “This feature allows users to set themes, questions, or activities that others can engage with by sharing their status updates.”

For example, WhatsApp users can create a status update asking their contacts to share a photo of their car, and contacts can tap the “Add my photo” sticker to share relevant updates, allowing them to connect with friends and family. You can add new ways to do this.
WhatsApp status updates are end-to-end encrypted, so if a user sees a status update with an “Add Yours” sticker and decides to interact with it, they won’t be able to see who started the challenge or who has joined it. This means that responses you make using the new stickers will remain private and only those you choose to share your status with will be able to see the content.
Notably, Status’ new WhatsApp “Add Yours” sticker is currently in development and has not been released to the general public. There’s no information about a wider rollout, but it’s expected to come in a future update.
This isn’t the only feature WhatsApp is working on. Recently, the messaging platform was spotted testing a minimal white theme for the app, which when applied will also change the classic green color of the WhatsApp logo on the top bar. The app will soon allow you to search within channels, display badge counts for unread messages within chat filters, and even send notifications for missed status updates.
