Washington: White House Security Council spokesman Jake Sullivan demanded that Israel provide an explanation for the discovery of hundreds of bodies from mass graves in Gaza hospitals. “We want answers. This should be investigated thoroughly and transparently,” Sullivan said.
More than 340 bodies were recovered this week from Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. More than 30 dead bodies were found from two graves on the Alshifa hospital site.
After days of heavy attacks, the Israeli army retreated, and the bodies were found during an inspection of the hospitals. The United Nations and the European Union have previously called for an independent investigation. But the Israeli military spokesman, Major Nadav Shoshani, responded that the bodies were buried by the people of Gaza and that some of the bodies that were discovered while searching for the hostages were hidden by the Israeli forces.
The US calls for immediate and unimpeded aid to Gaza President Joe Biden has questioned Israel.
