News and reports are now coming out that former coach Mickey Arthur might be appointed as the coach of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) hopes to finalize the deal with him within two weeks.
But reports suggest that even if he takes over as coach, he is unlikely to join the team immediately.
According to reports, he will give necessary instructions to the Pakistan team online until the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in India this year. There are also reports that he said he will be with the team at the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Mickey Arthur will continue to coach Derbyshire full-time.
The committee led by Najam Sethi wants to keep Arthur because of his history with the national team.
South African Mickey Arthur coached the Pakistan national team between 2016 and 2019.
According to his method Arthur will suggest a batting coach and a bowling coach. Apart from this, he will also choose an assistant to give necessary instructions to the team and coordinate things in his absence. Along with this, it will give online instructions through the internet.
In a press conference earlier this month, Najam Sethi had said that Arthur himself could take over as Pakistan’s coach.
‘The Mickey Arthur chapter is not yet closed. I have contacted him personally. It is still possible for him to return,’ said Sethi.
In 2017, Pakistan won their first Champions Trophy title under the leadership of Mickey Arthur. Pakistan have also won 11 consecutive T20 series under Arthur’s watch.
