Wild Guangdong: Province Unleashes Ambitious Plan to Safeguard Endangered Species and Thriving Ecosystems
Guangdong Strengthens Wildlife Protection with Joint Law Enforcement
Guangdong Forestry Bureau and 14 other departments have jointly issued a notice to implement the Wildlife Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China. The notice emphasizes the need for departmental cooperation and the establishment of a wildlife joint law enforcement coordination mechanism to promote the protection and sustainable development of wildlife resources.
The notice requires localities and departments in Guangdong to strengthen coordination and cooperation, perform their respective duties, and strictly supervise the protection of wild animals. It also calls for the establishment of a long-term mechanism for the protection of wild animals and the severe crackdown on criminal acts that damage wildlife resources. A comprehensive hunting ban will be implemented, and the protection of wild animal populations in the wild will be strengthened.
The notice also highlights the importance of information technology in wildlife protection. Archives of wild animals and their habitats will be established and improved, and a wild animal resource survey and monitoring system will be formed. The formation of a natural conservation area system with national parks as the main body will be accelerated, and on-site protection of wild animals will be promoted.
The management and patrol of wild animals and their habitats will be strengthened, and the management of important terrestrial wildlife habitats and bird migration corridors will be improved. Ecological restoration will be implemented in a planned manner for important terrestrial wildlife habitats according to local conditions.
By strengthening departmental cooperation and establishing a wildlife joint law enforcement coordination mechanism, Guangdong aims to promote the protection and sustainable development of wildlife resources.
