According to several sources in the football industry, the Korea Football Association has selected former Leeds United coach Jesse Marsh as the best candidate for the new head coach and negotiations are ongoing.
Coach Marsh is an American leader who has been recognized for his leadership on stages in Germany and England. After playing for Red Bull Salzburg (Austria) and RB Leipzig (Germany) from 2019 to 2021, he led Leeds United in the English Premier League in 2022. He is known in Korea as the coach who trained Hwang Hee-chan (Wolverhampton), a key offensive resource for the national team during his time in Salzburg.
Coach Marsh emphasizes fast tempo football and strong pressure suitable for modern football. Unlike the previous head coach, he has his own philosophy when it comes to tactics. He is evaluated as a suitable candidate because of his charisma. Hwang Hee-chan also welcomed the appointment of Coach Marsh.
The downside is that he has no experience as a national team coach, but he worked as an assistant coach to Bob Bradley, who led the United States in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, helping the team advance to the round of 16.
The key is to negotiate. Money emerges as the biggest issue. According to a report in the British media ‘The Sun’, Coach Marsh received an annual salary of 3.5 million pounds (about 6 billion won) during his time at Leeds.

Coach Gunes has the advantage of knowing Korean football well, having coached FC Seoul in the K-League in the past. However, the coaching career comes with the disadvantage of not having experience in the big leagues and being far from the modern football trend. Coach Casas is in charge of Iraq, which has a lower player size and level of support compared to Korea. Coach Raj has never led a national team as a coach.
