Will Levis Battles cameron Ward for Titans’ QB1 Job

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is facing a challenge for the starting role this season. After entering last year as the assumed starter, Levis now competes wiht No. 1 draft pick Cameron Ward for the coveted position.
“I think anyone who’s ever been in my situation can agree that it sucks,” Levis said Wednesday, emphasizing his focus on maintaining a positive attitude and supporting his teammates.
Levis admitted he anticipated the Titans drafting a quarterback early and prepared himself emotionally. He is focusing on the advantage of working within the same offensive system for consecutive seasons,a first for him in five years.
According to Levis,the quarterback room,including veterans Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle,fosters a supportive habitat. He also spoke highly of Ward. Having experienced a similar situation, Levis said he is ready to assist Ward in his transition to the NFL.
“He is a really smart kid,” Levis said. “We’ve been able to talk a lot about just the different installs that we’ve gone through and hearing his perspective, how he sees things. He’s a heck of an athlete, a heck of a quarterback, too.”
Ward echoed the sentiment, noting Levis was among the first to welcome him. “It’s exciting to work with somebody who’s played an actual NFL football game. So I’m glad to take a little advice from him,” Ward said.
During Wednesday’s practice, Ward and Levis shared repetitions with Allen and boyle. Coach Brian Callahan cautioned against reading too much into the current rotation, emphasizing the instructional nature of the practices.
During the offseason, Levis collaborated with quarterback coach Jordan Palmer in California, concentrating on fundamental improvements to his footwork and throwing mechanics. Callahan noted the positive changes, stating, ”I see a real improvement in his footwork and his base. his ability to control the football has improved.”
Despite an interception by safety Mark Perry at the end of practice, Levis remains determined to refine his skills and compete for the starting role. He intends to maintain his readiness,nonetheless of the outcome of the quarterback battle.
“I don’t plan on shifting my mindset at all regardless of what the situation is,” Levis said. “I’m just going to be ready to play quarterback whenever my name’s called.”
