Wilmington Police Report Multiple Stabbings on Front Street in Early Morning Hours

Wilmington Police Department officers responded to two separate stabbing incidents on North Front Street in downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, early Sunday morning, April 5, 2026, shortly after 2:00 a.m.

The stabbings occurred minutes apart and within a block of each other, according to Wilmington Police.

One of the victims, 21-year-old Daniel Montano, a Marine with the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, died from his injuries after being transported to the hospital.

Montano succumbed to his stab wounds after being transported to the hospital. Wilmington Police Department is now actively seeking a person of interest in connection with the deadly stabbing and is asking for the public’s help with tips or information.

He is described as an adult Black male with a medium build. Photos show him wearing a light-colored, fleece-lined denim jacket, light-colored denim pants, a pink shirt, and white sneakers with blue and red accents. He was also wearing what police said appeared to be a dark blue head covering, with long hair extending from underneath.
