microsoft is enhancing the Windows 11 Snipping Tool with a new color picker and an AI-driven “Perfect Screenshot” feature. The color picker, a long-awaited addition, allows users to easily identify color values from anywhere on the screen.
The new color picker in the Snipping Tool, version 11.2504.38.0, displays color codes in HEX, RGB, and HSL formats. This eliminates the need for third-party tools for designers and anyone needing precise color information.

To use the color picker, activate the Snipping Tool and select the pencil icon.Hover the dropper over any screen area to see the color code in the desired format. Ctrl + or Ctrl – zooms in and out for greater precision.
The “Perfect Screenshot” feature, designed for Copilot+ PCs, uses AI to intelligently resize screenshots based on the selected content. This eliminates manual editing and ensures accurate captures.
To use “Perfect Screenshot,” open the Snipping Tool, select the feature, and choose the screen region. Alternatively, hold the Ctrl key while selecting the area.
These new Snipping Tool features are currently available to Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels. Broader release is expected following testing.
