The Saudi national team achieved an important victory over its counterpart, Tajikistan, with an unanswered goal in the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

With this result, Al-Akhdar reached the ninth point at the top of the group, while Tajikistan’s balance froze at the fourth point in second place, with a goal difference from Jordan, which is in third place.

In the tenth minute, the first threat to the Saudi national team came at the feet of Salem Al-Dosari, who received the ball inside the penalty area and dribbled past the defense, before the goalkeeper intervened at the right time and turned the ball into a corner.

In the twelfth minute, Saleh Al-Shehri fell inside the Tajikistan penalty area, amid demands from the Al-Akhdar players to award a penalty kick, but the referee ordered the game to continue.

The Saudi national team’s attack resulted in the first goal in the 23rd minute with an individual effort from Salem Al-Dosari, who evaded the defense and then fired a distinctive shot from the outskirts of the penalty area and into the net.

The first and almost the only threat in favor of Tajikistan came from the feet of Alisher Dzhalilov, after a cross from the right side, but Al Owais blocked the ball steadily and turned it into a corner, so the match ended with a score of 1-0 in favor of Al Akhdar.
