FIFI Pissecker Marks 60th with Reflective New Solo Show in Vienna
Vienna’s Casanova cabaret is currently hosting a special party: Wolfgang “FIFI” Pissecker’s 60th birthday and a remarkable 44 years performing on stage. Pissecker’s new solo program, “Well, congratulate… from 16 to 60!,” isn’t just a birthday party; it’s a deeply personal retrospective spanning his six decades of life, and over four decades with the celebrated Austrian cabaret group, Die Hectiker.
Pissecker’s career began in 1981, when he co-founded a school cabaret with fellow students Florian Scheuba, werner Sobotka, and Mini Bydlinski. The group quickly gained traction, embarking on their first Austrian tour in October 1986. Die Hectiker have since become a mainstay of the Austrian comedy scene, producing 15 programs and earning two gold and one platinum record – a testament to their enduring popularity. Alongside their collaborative work, each member has also enjoyed success with individual projects.
For fans of Die Hectiker, certain routines have become iconic. Among these is “Der Ringer,” featuring Pissecker’s hilarious portrayal of athlete René Dattel, complete with a memorable red wrestling jersey. Expect echoes of this classic comedic timing in his new solo work.
“From the glorious beginnings to the (yet) not written chapters of life, everything is illuminated humorously,” promises the program description. Pissecker doesn’t shy away from big questions, exploring how both he and the world around him have evolved over the years – and playfully questioning his own role in that evolution. A surprising revelation hints at a groundbreaking influence from his grandmother, adding another layer of intrigue to the show.
