The Supreme Prosecutor’s Office began a fact-finding investigation into the suspicion of another accusation surrounding the ‘Wolseong nuclear power plant investigation’.

Two days after the Board of Audit and Inspection announced the results of the Wolsong nuclear power plant inspection, the people’s power reported 12 people, including the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy, to the office of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office.

In October of last year, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced the results of an audit that the current government deliberately underestimated the economic feasibility of the Wolsong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1.

Then, the prosecution, which started a large-scale investigation, handed over the Minister of Commerce, Industry and Energy Baek Un-gyu and a secretary of the Blue House to trial in June of this year.

Justice Minister Park Beom-gye expressed his doubts, saying that there were uncertain circumstances in this process.

“In relation to the Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1, this is a key point in the suspicion that this is also a ‘indictment’.”

The starting point of the allegations is the filing of a complaint by the People’s Power, which became the beginning of the investigation.

Two days after the audit results were released, the Board of Audit and Inspection notified the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office that ‘the investigation reference materials will be sent the next day’.

It was around 1:30 PM.

Coincidentally, on the evening of the same day, the People’s Power files a complaint to the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office against 12 people, including former Minister Baek and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy.

“The Moon Jae-in government, the Blue House, and public institutions commit evasion of law and corruption, such as manipulation of economic evaluation, in order to promote the policy to phase out nuclear power…”

At the time when the National Assembly audit was in full swing, it is questionable how the people’s power wrote a complaint in a day or two.

Moreover, the circumstances in the complaint letter, including the real names of working-level officials, which can be quickly identified by the appraisal agencies, are also raising suspicions.

The complaint was received at the watch office of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office at around 8:30 pm after work hours.

The problem is that at that time, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office was already conducting an investigation into the Wolsong nuclear power plant.

Therefore, the data from the Board of Audit and Inspection had to go to the Central Prosecutors’ Office, but the related case was also added to the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office, where the people’s power made a complaint.

At that time, the Chief Prosecutor of the Central Prosecutor’s Office was Prosecutor Lee Seong-yun, who had a confrontation with President Yoon Seok-yeol, and the head of the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office was Prosecutor Lee Du-bong, also known as the ‘Yun Seok-yeol Division’.

Former President Yoon entrusted the investigation to the Daejeon District Prosecutors’ Office, and the Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation by raiding the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power on a large scale within nine days after receiving the data from the Board of Audit and Inspection.

The Supreme Prosecutor’s Inspection Department, which was handed over the self-investigation data of the Ministry of Justice, started a full-fledged investigation based on the statements of the Supreme Prosecutor’s office at the time and internal approval records.
