Woman Found Dead in Hangang Park Purchased Weapon on Day of Death: Police Investigation Update

It has been confirmed that the weapon found on the body of a woman in her 30s found in Hangang Park last weekend was purchased by the deceased on the day of her death.

According to the police on the 10th, Gwangjin Police Station in Seoul is investigating the case of A, a woman in her thirties who was found dead at Hangang Park on the 6th.

Previously, at 8:07 pm on the 6th, the police and firefighters announced: “There is a person in the Han River. After receiving reports that he was “not moving”, they were dispatched and found Mr A in cardiac arrest.

At that time, Mr. A’s chest had been damaged by a stab wound with a weapon. A weapon was found at the scene, together with his body.
Following police investigations, it was confirmed that this weapon was purchased by Mr. A near his home in Icheon, Gyeonggi-do on the day of his death.

The deceased left his home in Icheon at around 1pm on the 6th and went to Hangang Park near Olympic Bridge at around 7.30pm using public transport.

The police believe that no one other than Mr A visited the location where the incident occurred for approximately 35 minutes until the report was received.

Police believe the possibility of homicide is low based on Mr. A’s history of gun purchases.

On the 8th, the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (National Forensic Service) conducted an autopsy on the cause of Mr. A’s death and revealed the first oral finding that it was “excessive bleeding due to a stab wound on the left side of the Chest”. ‘A puncture wound is a wound caused by a sharp object.
