Woman Sentenced to Prison for Blackmailing and Assaulting Celebrity Boyfriend: Judge Calls for Severe Punishment

A woman in her 30s who not only took money from her celebrity boyfriend after she had been dating for about 10 days and assaulted him when he asked her to break up, but also defamed him by posting malicious comments on social media such as “I had a sexually transmitted disease because of you,” ended up in prison.

Uijeongbu District Court, Criminal Division 1 of Namyangju Branch (Chief Judge Choi Chi-bong) announced on the 24th that it had sentenced Mr. A (36 years old, female), indicted without detention on charges of blackmail, assault, trespass and defamation under the Information and Communication Networks Act, to 10 months’ imprisonment.

At approximately 12.25am on 18 August 2022, Mr A was handed over to trial on charges of threatening her boyfriend, Mr B (34), a celebrity and YouTuber whom she had been meeting for approximately 10 days, in a house in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province.

When Mr. B asked to break up with you, he asked for money, saying, “You said you’re afraid of malicious comments, so what do you think I’ll do if you break up like this? Pay me for what you played with.” Myself.”

Mr. B immediately transferred 2.4 million won to Mr. A’s account.

However, Mr. A said, “I should have received 5 million won, but I only received 2.4 million won, so I will slap him instead,” and hit Mr. B’s face with his palm 10 times.

Although Mr A left Mr B’s house at around 1pm on the same day, he came back and attempted to enter the house by entering the door code six times.

After that, Mr. A’s obsession continued. He was angry that Mr. B wasn’t receiving calls, so he texted and sent KakaoTalk messages hundreds of times, saying things like, “Thanks to you, I’m disclosing all that I’m getting treatment for depression. You even played with it.”

Additionally, on Mr. B’s Instagram post, he left a comment saying, “Do you know sister ○○? I heard you kicked her while playing with her and got her in trouble,” and on the YouTube channel of Mr. B, left a post saying, “I got herpes because of you. Will it stop if I hide?”

It was revealed that all the posts left by Mr. A on Mr. B’s SNS were fake.

Mr A, who appeared in court, denied most of the charges and showed no remorse.

However, the court found Mr. A guilty of all charges.

Judge Choi said: “Not only did he publish false information about the victim, whose social reputation is prominent as an entertainer and YouTuber, but he repeatedly sent text messages that made the victim feel severely insulted or anxious for nearly 10 days, even if they had The crime is: «It is not light at all», he underlined.

He continued: “It is difficult to say that the defendant is seriously reflecting on his mistakes, and although the victim’s mental pain was considerable, no serious efforts were made to recover from the harm.” for a severe punishment for the accused, a prison sentence is recommended.” “The sentence is inevitable,” she added.

However, Judge Choi did not keep Mr A in court, telling him to “make greater efforts to recover from the harm”.

When the prison sentence was announced, Mr A sat and cried in the courtroom before being dragged out by officers.
