Trapped in Sub-Zero Temperatures

A woman in Hunan Province, China, was dramatically rescued from a freezer warehouse maintained at -20 degrees Celsius⁢ (approximately -4 degrees Fahrenheit)‍ thanks too the swift thinking of a delivery engineer. The incident, reported by⁣ the ⁤ South China Morning Post on August⁤ 12, 2024, highlights ⁣the importance of safety protocols in logistics and warehousing.

The woman, identified⁤ as Chen,‍ was moving luggage within her logistics company’s frozen storage facility on July 31, 2024.She temporarily entered the freezer and closed the door to⁣ protect the items from⁢ external⁢ heat and moisture.

A Desperate Situation

Unfortunately, the‍ door locked automatically, and the backup switch was malfunctioning.chen ⁤was wearing onyl summer clothing and had no access to a mobile phone. The warehouse’s remote location and soundproofing further complicated the situation, leading Chen to believe rescue was unlikely.

Despite her despair, Chen‍ repeatedly banged on the door⁢ whenever she heard activity outside, desperately hoping to attract attention. She removed her slippers to ⁣increase the ⁤impact of her⁣ efforts.

Delivery Engineer Hears Plea for Help

Delivery engineer Liu Shu, passing ‍by the warehouse, noticed the sounds and investigated. He discovered ⁣Chen trapped inside the freezer for approximately 20 minutes. It took nearly two hours for Chen to fully recover from the extreme cold exposure.

Chen expressed that her children were her primary⁣ concern during the ordeal. She subsequently showed her gratitude to Liu shu wiht conventional Chinese gifts,including red flags,flowers,food,and cash – customary tokens of recognition.
