Won Tae-in’s Season in Jeopardy: Samsung and Kukdae Star Diagnosed with Devastating Injury, Faces 4-6 Week Rehab Roadblock

The concerns have become reality. Samsung Lions pitcher Won Tae-in suffered a shoulder injury, making it impossible for him to participate in the remainder of the Korean Series (KS).
Won Tae-in started in Game 4 of the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO Postseason (PS) Korean Series (KS, 4 wins out of 7 games) held at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu on the 26th, and threw 78 balls in 2⅓ innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 walks. He struggled early with 2 strikeouts and 3 runs.
There was a reason. First of all, it was shoulder pain. Won Tae-in, who often leaned back and relaxed his shoulders on the mound, was eventually replaced in the third inning with the bases loaded. Catcher Kang Min-ho went on the mound and called the training coach to check on his condition. In the end, it was an early steel plate.
After receiving treatment at the hospital after the game, he was diagnosed with damage to the labrum of his right shoulder joint and rotator cuff tendinitis. An official from the Samsung club said, “4 to 6 weeks of rehabilitation is needed.”
This is an emergency for Samsung. Samsung was leading this PS with the one-two punch of Danny Reyes and Won Tae-in. But even Won Tae-in fell from his horse and lowered his head. If Samsung took the game until the 7th game, they tried to have Won Tae-in as a starter, but it failed.
Won Tae-in was also likely to be selected for the national team for the Premier 12 held in November. However, due to this injury, his participation became uncertain.
