Chinese Football Association Holds Meeting to Review Japan’s Disastrous Defeat

The Chinese Football Association held a study lecture to reflect on the national football team’s 0:7 away defeat against Japan in the third qualifying round of the Asian World Cup.

The meeting aimed to analyze the shortcomings in the game between China and Japan, including game goals, tactical arrangements, communication and cooperation, and team morale. The association also examined the repeated defeat experiences of the national team in its history, highlighting long-standing problems in teamwork in five aspects: the leadership role of the Football Association, the leading role of the head coach, and the main role of the players.

To address these issues, the Chinese Football Association proposed 9 specific measures to strengthen the leadership role of the Football Association, promote the effective integration of the leading role of the head coach and the leading role of the players, and extend the construction work from the national team to the football clubs. The association aims to comprehensively correct deviations and effectively promote the construction of a new model National team management service mechanism.

The lecture emphasized the importance of learning from the Sino-Japanese war, strengthening confidence, and working hard to implement the strategic use of the Party Central Committee and the State Council effectively on football work. The association also stressed the need to focus on key tasks such as youth training, professional league reform, national team building, and building the society itself to provide a strong guarantee for the revival and development of football.
