Security Concerns Heightened Due to Recent Incidents
This is the first high-level UN General Assembly week since the outbreak of the Gaza War, and with the leaders of Israel and Palestine visiting New York at the same time, and with the recent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, interest in security issues is greater than ever.
The UN General Assembly General Debate is the annual highlight of the UN General Assembly, where heads of state, prime ministers, ministers, and other representatives from the 193 UN member states take turns giving speeches at the podium.
About 140 heads of state, including 87 heads of state, vice presidents, crown princes, and heads of government, are expected to visit the General Assembly Hall to give speeches.

Leaders from Regions at War to Attend the Meeting
This year’s UN General Assembly High-Level Week is attracting even more attention as it is the first high-level event to be held since the outbreak of the Gaza war, triggered by a surprise attack by the Palestinian armed group Hamas on October 7 last year.
The list of visitors includes a number of leaders from regions at war, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which is heightening tensions among U.S. security officials.
