World of Warcraft Forever is Blizzard’s next iteration on WoW Classic, designed to add up to 1,000 new quests, nine new dungeons, two raids, and a new playable race to the original MMORPG world.
Release Date and Beta Testing Schedule
Players won’t have to wait long to experience the new version of Azeroth.
New Content and the Skyborne Elves
Unlike previous iterations of WoW Classic that eventually progressed to subsequent expansions and their respective regions, WoW Forever keeps its focus strictly on the vanilla game’s backdrop. Within that world, Blizzard stated that players will find up to 1,000 new quests, revamped zones, and three entirely new zones. These three zones fill out areas that were present on the map in vanilla World of Warcraft but remained inaccessible to players. One of these newly accessible zones will serve as the starting area for an entirely new playable race joining the game: the Skyborne elves. In addition to the new zones and race, the package includes nine new dungeons to explore, two raids, and an additional PvP battleground. Blizzard will also revamp existing classes by introducing new talents and skills, alongside new class and race combinations. An optional feature will let players toggle between high-definition visuals and old-school graphics. Despite these additions, Blizzard confirmed that it will not raise the level cap past 60.
Core Development Principles and Existing Classic Servers
Blizzard emphasized that WoW Forever will not focus on the endgame experience, setting it apart from modern iterations of World of Warcraft. Many of the newly added dungeons and quests are specifically tailored for characters under level 60. This design choice aligns with what Blizzard outlined as its core development principles for the project: the journey matters more than the destination, the world functions as a character itself, and the game’s social aspects remain a primary focus. For players who prefer to continue experiencing the original version of Azeroth without the new additions, the normal version of WoW Classic will remain fully playable, according to Blizzard’s announcements at BlizzCon 2026.
