World Table Tennis launches India Entity for Fan Engagement

World Table Tennis (WTT), the commercial arm of the International Table Tennis Federation, has established WTT Event Management India Private Limited (WTT India). This move marks a strategic effort to elevate the sport of table tennis in India.
The new entity will focus on delivering high-caliber international table tennis events within India, creating better opportunities for Indian athletes, and boosting both fan and commercial interest in the sport. WTT India aims to serve as a central hub for organizing elite and junior-level events, along with player development programs. This initiative aligns with the growing support for sports in India, particularly as Indian table tennis players gain international recognition.
Since its inception, WTT has aimed to transform table tennis into a year-round spectacle, broadcasting in over 180 countries. The association emphasizes premier venues, immersive production, and a digital-first approach.
steve Dainton, WTT Chief Executive Officer, emphasized the potential in India. “The passion is there. The infrastructure is coming. The player base is growing. With WTT India, we’re now fully invested in building a long-term ecosystem that’s good for India, and good for the game,” Dainton said.
WTT’s involvement in India began with the WTT Star Contender Goa in 2023, followed by a repeat event in 2024. The WTT Star Contender chennai Presented by IndianOil expanded the event in 2025.
Vita Dani, Chairperson of Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT), will join WTT India’s Board. “WTT India gives us the platform to channel international energy into a local movement.We have the talent, the ambition, and now the structure to dream bigger and deliver,” Dani said.
Sharath Kamal Achanta, a prominent Indian table tennis player, has been appointed as WTT India’s official ambassador. Achanta said, ”The sport has come so far in India, and now, with WTT officially here, we have the chance to elevate it like never before.”
