Rey Fenix will defend his title on this week’s SmackDown,and his next challenger has been resolute: Carmelo Hayes will face him on next week’s show.
The match for next week was set up during a backstage segment on the September 6, 2024, SmackDown.Hayes accepted an open challenge for a title match, prompting an appearance from The Miz, Hayes’ tag team partner in “Melo Don’t Miz,” who expressed frustration that Hayes had preemptively accepted the chance.
Next Friday’s WWE SmackDown will serve as the final promotional show before Wrestlepalooza, a premium Live Event (PLE) scheduled for next saturday, September 14, 2024, and broadcast on ESPN.SmackDown is scheduled to take place at the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio, while Wrestlepalooza will be held at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.
