Stephanie Vaquer will still challenge for the Women’s World Championship, despite Naomi vacating the title due to her pregnancy. However, her scheduled match at Clash in Paris will not take place.
Vaquer was originally slated to face Naomi at the August 31 Premium Live Event in France. The match was canceled following Naomi’s announcement last week that she is expecting a child. WWE provided an update during a backstage segment on tonight’s RAW in Birmingham involving Vaquer and General Manager Adam Pearce.
Pearce informed Vaquer that while her Clash in Paris chance was off,she would still receive a championship match against a new opponent. He stated he already has a challenger in mind and will reveal both the opponent and the date of the title bout on next week’s show.
Vaquer expressed disappointment about missing the Paris event but acknowledged the circumstances. She earned her championship opportunity by winning a battle royal at last month’s WWE Evolution event.
The status of IYO SKY remains uncertain. SKY was scheduled to face Naomi for the Women’s World Championship on the August 11 episode of RAW, but naomi was pulled from the match due to medical reasons. WWE has not yet confirmed whether SKY will receive a future title opportunity.
Naomi announced her pregnancy during last week’s RAW, revealing she and Jimmy Uso are expecting a child. Despite stepping away, Naomi intends to return to WWE and once again compete for the Women’s World Championship.
