Wyndham Clark Banned from Oakmont Country Club Following Incident

Oakmont, PA – Wyndham Clark, the reigning US Open champion, has been suspended from Oakmont Country Club property following an unspecified incident. The ban was confirmed in a letter from Oakmont Country Club President, John Lynch, which outlined the conditions for Clark’s potential reinstatement.
Clark’s Suspension and Reinstatement Conditions
Lynch’s letter, addressed to club members, stated that Clark is “no longer permitted on OCC property” and that this decision will remain in effect unless formally reconsidered and approved by the Board. These conditions include:
Full repayment for damages: Clark must cover all costs associated wiht the damage caused during the incident.
Meaningful charitable donation: A important contribution to a charity chosen by the Oakmont Country Club Board is required.
* Completion of counselling or anger management: Clark must successfully undergo counselling and/or anger management sessions.
The letter concluded with a thank you for the members’ understanding and continued support.
Clark Addresses the incident
wyndham Clark has publicly acknowledged the incident, which occurred prior to the Open at Royal Portrush. Speaking at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut, Clark expressed his regret for his actions.
“I made a mistake in a moment of rage with, you know, a bad year and everything coming together and it just was more than anything a good wake-up call for me,” Clark told reporters. He emphasized his desire to move past the incident and focus on his performance for the remainder of the season, with an eye on qualifying for the US Ryder Cup team.
Clark, who made his Ryder Cup debut two years ago, is highly likely to require a captain’s pick from Keegan Bradley for the upcoming Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in September.
Turning a New Page
The 2023 US Open champion was again questioned about the Oakmont incident at the recent scottish Open. Clark indicated that he feels he has “turned a corner” and is focused on regaining his best form.”I live a great life and I’m not that far off from playing good golf, so I feel like I’ve turned a page and we’re now maybe on the right track of playing some good golf,” he stated at The renaissance Club.
Clark is currently competing in The Open,playing the opening two rounds alongside American Tom Hoge and Canada’s Corey Conners.
