Opera singer Wynne Evans, recognized from the gocompare insurance commercials, is leaving his BBC Radio Wales program. This follows an incident involving “inappropriate and unacceptable” comments made at the Strictly Come Dancing live tour launch in January.
Evans, 53, who participated in last year’s Strictly series, reportedly made the remark during a video filmed at the tour launch. He later apologized for the incident. Since january, guest presenters have filled in on his BBC Radio Wales show.

Evans announced Friday that the BBC “decided not to renew [his] contract.” He expressed his feelings about leaving the show.
“That show wasn’t just work – it was home. It was us,” evans said.
“we laughed, we cried, we sang like nobody was listening.And somehow, through the airwaves, we became a family.”
“Thank you for welcoming me into your homes. Into your hearts.”
The singer, from Carmarthen, West Wales, said he will launch The Wynne Evans Show online, airing daily from 9 a.m. to noon.
During last year’s Strictly series, Evans and his dance partner, Katya Jones, also apologized for a “joke” during a show.
A BBC spokesperson confirmed that Evans “is not under contract with the BBC.”
“He is not returning to the mid-morning show on BBC Radio Wales and there are currently no plans to work with him,” the spokesperson added.
