President Xi Jinping met with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on September 9.
Xi Jinping emphasized that despite global turmoil and challenges, seeking peace and development remains the trend of the times and the aspiration of the people. China and Spain, as countries with a sense of responsibility and mission, should strengthen bilateral cooperation, expand multilateral cooperation, and enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the two sides should keep the overall situation in mind, focus on the long-term, and make greater contributions to world peace, stability, and human progress. Sanchez expressed his honor in visiting China again and deepening bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and recognition.
Sanchez stated that Spain believes China’s influence is crucial, and China plays a core role in the world, including in Europe. Spain hopes to carry out constructive cooperation to make China-EU relations closer, richer, and more balanced.
