On the afternoon of November 1, President Xi Jinping met at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing with Prime Minister Fiso of Slovakia, who was in China for an official visit.
Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Sri Lanka. After three-quarters of a century of development, the traditional friendship between China and Sri Lanka is full of vitality, and cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results, which has truly benefited the two peoples. Our decision to upgrade China-Sri Lanka relations to a strategic partnership is in line with the future development needs of both countries and will inject new and powerful impetus into bilateral cooperation. China is willing to work with Sri Lanka to open a new chapter in China-Sri Lanka relations and move it to a higher level.
Fizo said: “Dear Mr. Chairman, Slovakia firmly adheres to the one-China policy, which is the basis of our bilateral cooperation. Today I brought a large delegation from Slovakia, which may be the largest delegation brought by the Prime Minister of Slovakia on a foreign visit. We not only pay attention to cooperation in the economic field, but also in humanities, including sports.”
