President Xi Jinping Meets with Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo in Beijing
On September 5, President Xi Jinping met with Ghanaian President Akufo-Addo at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where Akufo-Addo was attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.
Xi Jinping emphasized that Ghana was the second country in sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. Over the past 64 years, the friendship between the two countries has grown stronger despite changes in the international situation. China is committed to working with Ghana to build on the profound friendship established by the older generation of leaders, enhance political mutual trust, and promote cooperation in various fields.
The Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation marked a significant milestone in China-Africa relations, summarizing the historical experience of China-Africa friendship, clarifying the direction and path of China and Africa’s joint efforts to promote modernization, and leading the direction of the global South. China is willing to work with Ghana to implement the outcomes of the summit.
Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude to President Xi for inviting him to attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. He highlighted the value Ghana places on its relationship with China, citing their shared ideals and over 60 years of bilateral relations. Ghana was among the first African countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China, and China has been a reliable friend since then.
