BEIJING, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) — China’s Xinhua news agency and France’s AFP news agency on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) and reached an agreement on further expanding exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

AFP was one of the first Western news agencies to establish friendly and cooperative relations with Xinhua. Xinhua and AFP signed the first information exchange protocol in 1957.

Xinhua is ready to further strengthen exchanges with AFP. and play a positive role in promoting public support for both countries. Deepen strategic coordination and cooperation between China and France. and promoting the development of a China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership.

Fu and Fries agreed that Xinhua and AFP will jointly organize photography exhibitions in Beijing, China and Paris, France this year. To celebrate 60 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Fries said AFP greatly values ​​long-term friendly cooperation with Xinhua. He also congratulated Xinhua on the successful holding of the 5th World Media Summit and welcomed the signing of a new memorandum of understanding between the two news agencies.

Fries added that AFP had previously reported on the establishment of diplomatic relations between France and China. He will also report on important events to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries this year.

Fu and Fries also exchanged views on coverage of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
