A prospect for the New York Yankees in Major League Baseball was released after being caught stealing a teammate’s equipment and selling it online.

The New York Post reported on the morning of the 19th (Korean time) that Yankees minor leaguer Jake Sanford was released after robbery. According to the New York Post, Sanford stole his colleagues’ equipment several times and sold them online. In addition, Sanford did not receive money to deliver the goods after posting, “We sell equipment signed by players.” The Yankees launched their own investigation into Sanford after a report from a neighbour, and expelled him last week. Sanford deleted his social media account.

A graduate of Western Kentucky University, Sanford was drafted by the Yankees in the third round of the 2019 draft, and received a down payment of $597,500 (about 750 million won). He is expected to be a big outfielder, and played 101 games in the minor league single A and top single A last year, leaving a batting average of .285, 16 homers, and 61 RBIs.

According to the Associated Press, Sanford signed a contract with the Ottawa Titans from the independent Frontier League after his release.
