Al-Najma Advances to the Next Round of the Two Holy Mosque Cup

Al-Najma’s first football team, competing in the “First Division”, secured a spot in the next round of the Two Holy Mosque Cup by defeating Damak with a score of 2-0. The match took place at the Education Department Stadium in Unaizah on Wednesday, as part of the round of 32.

Al-Najma joins four other clubs from the “Yellow” League, including Al-Arabi, Al-Tai, Al-Jandal, and Al-Jabalin, who have also advanced to the next stage of the tournament. These teams have successfully eliminated clubs from the Saudi Roshan League, such as Al-Khaliz, Al-Ahli, and Al-Fateh.

The match saw Al-Najma waiting until the 60th minute to score against Damak, with Brazilian player Leo Teleca scoring the first goal through a penalty kick. Algerian-born French player Bilal Awasharia then extended Al-Najma’s lead with a second goal in the 86th minute.

This match marked Awasharia’s first appearance for the club since signing to replace Spaniard Guy Dembele, who left for Diyarria last week. The goal was a significant one, as it helped Al-Najma secure their spot in the next round.

Al-Najma’s victory over Damak is reminiscent of their performance last season, when they defeated Al-Rayed 2-1 in the round of 32. On the other hand, Damak has been eliminated from the competition in the first round for the third time in the last four editions.
