Yemeni government forces target sites in Sana'a, Sa'dah and Taiz
The Houthi-run Saba news agency denied accusations that the attack was a Saudi aggression. The internationally recognized Yemeni government forces announced they had targeted high-value sites in Sana’a, along with other airstrikes in Sa’dah and Taiz, the BBC reported on October 1, 2026. The Yemeni capital, Sana’a, controlled by the Houthi movement, was rocked by powerful explosions on Thursday evening, while AFP footage showed huge plumes of smoke rising over the city. In a statement posted on the X platform, Colonel Majid al-Nuzaili, spokesman for the Yemeni government forces, confirmed that the capital was targeted, along with 11 other targets in Sa’dah in northwestern Yemen.
Precise airstrikes on the Taiz fronts
On the other front in Taiz Governorate, a previous statement by the spokesperson for the government forces explained that our air force carried out 27 precise and focused airstrikes across the Taiz front lines, targeting an integrated military system belonging to the Houthi terrorist militia. The statement added that the strikes included a missile depot, command and control centers, advanced supply and armament points, as well as militia gatherings, vehicles, and military equipment.
Missiles and drones intercepted over Jazan and Khamis Mushait
The coalition announced Thursday evening via its X platform that it had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles and four drones over the southern city of Jazan, near energy and oil facilities that have been targeted in recent weeks. The drones also targeted the southwestern Saudi city of Khamis Mushait, which houses an airbase. Saudi Civil Defense reported that debris falling after the interception of a ballistic missile in the Khamis Mushait area caused limited material damage. Earlier on Thursday, the coalition stated that the Houthis targeted an electricity distribution station in Medina this week, causing one transformer to go offline, but without affecting the power grid. The coalition said that an investigation and examination of drone debris confirmed the group’s involvement in the Tuesday attack on the station that supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque.
