The festival,⁤ hosted by the University of Brunei Darussalam (UBD),‍ saw ⁢entries from filmmakers around the world.

“This is our first film as a team, and we are thrilled that it has been so well-received,” said Ergia Maharani Putri, the film’s director. “It’s a dream come true to see our work recognized on an international stage.”

2Yoel tells the⁤ humorous story of a tuyul, a mischievous spirit from Indonesian folklore, who is tasked with influencing a young boy named Alif. Though, Alif’s strong religious beliefs make the tuyul’s mission anything but easy.

The film, inspired by myths depicting jin beings as having a ⁤more advanced civilization ⁤than humans, blends comedy and religious themes in a way that is both entertaining and thought-provoking.

“We wanted to create a film that ‍was both funny and meaningful,” explained Ergia.”Tackling religious⁣ issues in a comedic way can be tricky, but we were careful to ensure the storyline ⁤was respectful and relatable to‍ a wide audience.”
