Yangyang Forest Fire Fighting Rental Helicopter Crash… 2 passengers killed

This morning, a forest fire fighting helicopter crashed in Yangyang, Gangwon-do, killing two people, including the captain and co-pilot.

The helicopter was said to have crashed while patrolling a forest fire.

It is said to have exploded shortly after the crash.

Yes, at around 10:50 this morning a report was received that a rental helicopter for fighting a forest fire had crashed in Yangyang, Gangwon-do.

The accident site is near Myeongjusa Temple in Eoseongjeon-ri, Hyeonbuk-myeon, Yangyang-gun.

It is said that the helicopter exploded at the same time as it crashed and was engulfed in flames.

There were two people on board the helicopter that crashed, including the captain, Lee, aged 71, and the co-pilot, Kim, aged 54.

After the fire extinguishing authorities completed the extinguishing work, it was confirmed that the two people died.

It is said that the helicopter that had the accident took off near the old Seorak Training Center in Sokcho City at around 9:30am today and was patrolling the fire in the forest.

The model is ‘S-58T’ from TransHelly Co., Ltd.

It was confirmed that the helicopter was rented jointly by Sokcho, Goseong, and Yangyang in Gangwon-do.
