Chun Doo-hwan’s grandson, Jeon Woo-won, visited Gwangju right after his release.

May 18’s family confirmed the sincerity of Mr. Jeon’s visit to Gwangju in person.

“The friend comes and welcomes us warmly, so we open a forum for conversation so we can talk about all the stories we have put in.”

On the morning of the 31st, Jeon meets with bereaved families and victims of the May 18th Memorial Foundation.

In this meeting, I will bow my head in apology on behalf of my grandfather Chun Doo-hwan and his family for May 18th.

After meeting my family in May, I will visit the National Democratic Cemetery on May 18.

After visiting the cemetery, we intend to visit the tomb of the first victim on the 18th of May, the late Kim Gyeong-cheol, and the tomb of the lost.

Among Mr. Chun Doo-hwan’s family, he is the first to apologize for the incident on May 18 and visit the May 18 cemetery.

“Chun Doo-hwan is dead, but the fact that his death does not put an end to his crimes has now been proven by the mouth of his direct grandson.”

In May, the family hopes that Jeon’s confession and apology will lead to the full truth being discovered on May 18th.

And I hope it will be an opportunity for other perpetrators to admit the truth.

“Didn’t Jeon Woo-win an opportunity for (the perpetrators) to come out into the world and speak with dignity and courage?”

Jeon, who spent his first day in Gwangju preparing for the May 18th meeting, and hoped his family would apologize.

“Think about it from the point of view of the innocent victims, and a sincere apology is really the least you can do…”

“Ahead of the 43rd anniversary of May 18th, attention is focused on how sincerely Mr. Jeon will seek forgiveness with a sincere apology. Yonhap News TV Kim Kyung-in.”
