The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 has slightly decreased, continuing the level of 3,000 for the third day.

As a result of the explosive increase in the number of Omicron-mutated infections abroad, the number of imported daily infections in Korea was the second highest since the outbreak of the outbreak.

The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 was 3,376, representing the 3,000 level for the third day.

After the gradual recovery of daily life, the number of confirmed cases, approaching 8,000, gradually decreased due to the reinforcing of social distancing, and again decreased by 134 from the previous day.

With 3,140 domestic infections and 236 overseas inflows, it was also remarkable that the number of imported cases was the second highest since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

As the number of daily confirmed cases worldwide reached an all-time high on the 4th, Omicron, which has two to three times the transmission power of the delta mutation, raged.

The number of confirmed cases imported from overseas has recently exceeded 200 three times in a week, and the countries where the infection is estimated are not concentrated in a specific country but are widely distributed.

The proportion of Omicron mutations among domestic infected people is still 4% as of the last week of last year, but it is close to 70% in imported cases.

In Korea, as the omicron mutation becomes the dominant species around next month, there is a possibility that the number of confirmed cases will increase rapidly.

“South Africa, the United States, Britain, and other European countries, as well as neighboring Japan (the number of daily confirmed cases) have risen to 8,000. Looking at this situation, I don’t think it’s impossible for Korea to rise to 20,000.”

The number of seriously ill patients was 821, the fourth day at 800, and the death toll increased by 51.

Meanwhile, Pfizer’s ‘Paxrovid’ is scheduled to enter Korea next week for the first time among oral COVID-19 treatments, and quarantine authorities are preparing standards for dosing.
