You Won’t Believe the Shocking Object a Doctor Found Lodged in a 7-Year-Old Boy’s Nose – A Parent’s Worst Nightmare
7-Year-Old Boy’s Foul Smell from Nose Causes Parents to Faint
A 7-year-old boy in Jiaozhou city, Henan Province, China, had a strange smell coming from his nose for two years, prompting his parents to take him to the hospital for an examination.
The boy’s ordeal began two years ago when he started to feel a strange smell in his nose, but he couldn’t find the cause. As time went on, the stench became more intense, and during the past Mid-Autumn Festival, the family decided to take him for a thorough examination. A foreign object was found to be stuck at the bottom of the nasal cavity.
Due to the object’s deep position, the doctor had to try using three different types of tools before successfully removing it. However, the object was covered with a large amount of black oil stains, making it impossible to immediately determine what it was. After cleaning, it was found to be a rusted screw.
The child’s parents were shocked and said, “This screw has been in my child’s nose for at least 2 years!”
Doctors say that foreign objects in the nasal cavity are a common emergency in children’s ear, nose, and throat departments. While the object may pass through the nasal cavity into the throat and be swallowed, it can also fall into the windpipe, causing suffocation or even death.
Parents are warned to avoid letting young children play with small objects such as nails, batteries, or rubber bands, as they are often stuck in the nasal cavity. If children exhibit abnormal nose-picking behavior, thick mucus, or a foul smell coming from one side of the nasal cavity, they should be taken to see a doctor immediately.
