Youth quarantine pass plan may be announced early next year… Review of application from February 15th to private academies-reading rooms, etc.

‘Applied on February 1’
Confusion of parents who did not decide to vaccinate their children
“If you’re going to postpone, you should have told me in advance.”

While the government announced that it would implement a quarantine pass for children and adolescents aged 12-17 from February next year, the Ministry of Education said that it could announce an improvement plan early next year that it had originally planned to prepare by the end of this year. Parents pointed out, “If there is a possibility that the application of the quarantine pass will be delayed, it should have been notified in advance to prevent confusion among students.”

At a regular briefing on the 27th, the Ministry of Education said, “Consultations with related organizations and ministries regarding the introduction of the youth quarantine pass are being actively carried out through various channels.” Earlier, when the government announced that it would apply the quarantine pass to academies and reading rooms from February 1 of next year, parents and students strongly opposed it, fearing discrimination against those who were not vaccinated and the stability of vaccination. Accordingly, the Ministry of Education said that it would come up with an improvement plan within this year after consulting with the Federation of Korean Academy of Education, but it was delayed again as this year was less than a week away.

If the quarantine pass is applied to academies from February 1 next year, students must have completed the first vaccination by the 27th in order to take the winter vacation special lecture. This is because an interval of 3 weeks is required for the 1st and 2nd inoculations, and the quarantine pass takes effect 14 days after completion of the inoculation. It is pointed out that the government’s late response is causing confusion among students and parents.

Person A, who is raising a child in the first grade of middle school in Daejeon, said, “I saw a public petition that a child suffering from diabetes became brain-dead after receiving a vaccine to go to a private academy.” Isn’t it?” he said.

The government is said to be considering applying the pediatric quarantine pass from February 15 next year in consideration of the schedule of each school’s final exams. An education official said, “To be implemented on February 1, the first vaccination must be completed by the 27th, but I missed that time.

The second vaccination rate for children and adolescents aged 12-17 years exceeded 70% as of 00:00 on the 27th. However, the vaccination rate decreased with age, and 77.7% of 15-year-olds completed the primary vaccination, whereas only 43% of 12-year-olds completed the primary vaccination.
