Jakarta – The Indonesian National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) is expanding the reach of zakat, infaq, and alms (ZIS) to improve community welfare. In 2024, the agency helped 1.3 million people out of poverty.
Over the past four years, BAZNAS has reached an average of 32.7 million beneficiaries annually. This increase aligns with the rise in ZIS funds channeled through the agency.
BAZNAS chairman Noor Achmad announced these achievements at the Palace zakat event at the State Palace in Jakarta. The event was attended by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
According to Achmad, the total zakat funds distributed over the past four years have increased considerably:
In 2021, the amount of zakat distribution was Rp14.04 trillion, Rp21.6 trillion in 2022, Rp31.2 trillion in 2023, and Rp39.5 trillion in 2024.
The distribution of funds from BAZNAS RI (Central) also surged, from Rp501 billion in 2021 to Rp1.07 trillion in 2024.
Achmad stated that the distribution of ZIS funds targeted eight asnaf (eligible recipients),focusing on five key areas: economic empowerment,social welfare,humanitarian aid,health,education,and da’wah (Islamic propagation).
During ramadan, BAZNAS implemented programs such as the Ramadhan Happy Package, provided 5,000 free motorcycles, and offered gasoline assistance across Indonesia. the agency also built 100 livable houses and inaugurated the Free Health Service Building Dhuafa Healthy House BAZNAS jatinegara.
BAZNAS also organized a free homecoming programme, dispatching nearly 1,000 mustahik (zakat recipients) using 17 buses to 26 destinations.
BAZNAS provides homecoming posts at 40 locations across 10 provinces in Indonesia,offering free services such as health services and takjil (Ramadan snacks),
