Zelenskyy: Truckers Unaware of⁢ Ukraine ⁢Drone Attack on Russian Warplanes

The Russian truck drivers who unwittingly transported platforms used in Ukraine’s large-scale surprise drone attack ⁤on ⁤Russian warplanes were unaware of the drones concealed within their cargo,⁣ according to Ukrainian⁤ President Volodymyr ‍Zelenskyy.

The drones, hidden in “mobile houses” featuring⁢ retractable roofs, ⁣were remotely deployed to conduct the operation, a source said. Zelenskyy, in an interview with Martha Raddatz, stated the drivers “didn’t know anything” and were simply “doing their job.” The interview is scheduled to‍ air Sunday on “This Week with⁤ George Stephanopoulos.”

Zelenskyy emphasized that the truck drivers were not aware that the mobile cottages and containers they were transporting were secretly equipped with drones intended⁤ to strike Russian airfields, causing billions of dollars in damage to military equipment. Ukraine claims the drone attack damaged more‍ than 40 Russian bombers, representing approximately one-third ⁢of Russia’s strategic bomber fleet.

The Ukrainian president also told Raddatz that the nation’s secret services exclusively “used only our weapon[s]” during the drone attack, refraining from deploying⁣ equipment originating from allied nations.

“I wanted⁤ very much to use only what we produce and to have the separation [be] very ‍clear,” Zelenskyy said.
