But motta’s experience extends beyond the OHL. He’s represented Latvia on the international stage at the World Junior Championships for the past two seasons. Before joining Zemgale/LBTU, he honed his skills in the Czech Junior League, as well as with the Riga and Riga 17 teams. This diverse background demonstrates his dedication to the sport and his willingness to learn and grow.
Marcus Striks: A consistent Offensive Threat
Marcus Striks, also 20 years old, is another valuable asset for Zemgale/LBTU. Last season,he played 28 OHL games for Jelgava,scoring 14 points (5 goals and 9 assists). He really stepped up during the playoffs, contributing 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) in nine matches.
Striks brings a wealth of experience from various leagues. Prior to joining Jelgava, he played for “Kurbad,” spent a season in US Junior leagues, and two seasons in the Swedish Youth Championship. This international exposure has undoubtedly shaped him into a well-rounded and adaptable player.
What’s Next for Zemgale/LBTU?
The Zemgale/LBTU season kicks off in mid-August with participation in the prestigious “President’s Cup.” This tournament will be a fantastic possibility for the team to test their skills against strong competition, including two Latvian U-20 candidate teams, the Finnish Tuto U-23 team, Mogo/RSU, and the returning Liepaja.
