Zhou Tiancheng criticizes the BWF for “not making progress” at all! Sensational information about pressure on journalists
(Reporter Xu Weiji/Detailed Report) In the BWF Super 300 Series German Halo Badminton Open, Taiwan’s top badminton player Zhou Tiancheng played against Danish player Rasmus Gameke on November 1. He lost to his opponent and missed the opportunity to defend his title. However, after the game, he rarely made a lengthy post on social platform Threads, expressing his dismay at the BWF referee’s decision, criticizing the referee’s wrong decision issue as “no improvement” and revealing that a journalist had been harassed by the BWF. Two years ago, he was pressured not to release a video that he misidentified, which caught the attention of netizens.
Zhou Tiancheng faced a controversial decision at a critical moment in the second game when he led 18:16. His opponent Kimchi dunked the ball and Zhou Tiancheng successfully counterattacked, but the referee believed the ball had landed and awarded the point to his opponent. Although Zhou Tiancheng protested on the spot and asked the referee to intervene, he could not overturn the decision. In response, Zhou Tiancheng issued a message after the game: “This is for the progress of badminton. I call on the BWF to invest funds in referee training and equipment updates (such as VAR), rather than allowing players to be treated unfairly again and again.”

He further explained, “The referee mistakenly assumed that my racket touched the net at 18:16. Although the head referee and the service referee said that I did not touch the net, the referee insisted on not changing the decision. Even my opponent told me after the game. Asked why I have done it every time, the whole world knows that the trial has been miscarried, but only the Chief Justice insists that the verdict remains unchanged.

In addition, Zhou Tiancheng also revealed that two years ago, a reporter took a high-definition video of him that did not violate the rules, but the Badminton World Federation pressured the reporter not to allow the release of the video, otherwise the city would no longer be allowed to hold events. He was deeply disappointed by the move and stressed that the BWF should face the problem and be open and transparent instead of covering up the facts.
