[국제]China’s fleet sails ‘siege’ again… Sino-Japanese tension rises

Recently, Chinese warships took part in an armed protest while sailing around the Japanese archipelago as if encircling them.

It is the first time in eight months since October last year, and military tensions between China and Japan are also on the rise.

Correspondent Sung-woong Kang reports from Beijing.

Four Chinese warships, including the latest destroyers Lhasa and Chengdu, entered the East Sea on the 12th and 13th.

Chinese warships entered the East Sea through the Tsushima Strait and then went up to the northeast for training.

Two destroyers circled around Hokkaido, while the other two sailed through the Tsugaru Strait and returned to China.

This is not the first time that such armed protests seem to be besieging the Japanese archipelago.

In October of last year, 10 Chinese and Russian warships jointly encircled the Japanese archipelago and put pressure on them.

This time, Russia first sailed around Japan as if it were besieging, followed a few days later by Chinese warships.

China’s armed protests took place in the midst of recent conflicts between China and Japan.

The issue of the Chunxiao gas field in the East China Sea, which claims jurisdiction over each other, has also emerged as a topic of discussion.

Japan has asked China to stop unilateral development, but China has reiterated its will to force it.

China and Japan continue to fight over sovereignty over the Senkaku Islands and Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.

Japan is stepping up with the United States on the Taiwan issue, raising its voice, and China is resisting it.

The confrontation between China and Japan eventually leads to an increase in the military power of the two countries, which is a factor of unrest in Northeast Asia.
