[국제]Hundreds flock to Afghanistan as passport service resumes

[앵커]

Hundreds of Afghans flocked to passport offices as passport services resumed, which had been suspended for nearly two months after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan.

With this opportunity, attention is being paid to whether even Afghans who were unable to escape in time while helping the governments of the western world, such as the United States and Canada, will be able to leave the country.

Hundreds of Afghans flocked to the passport office.

It is desperately trying to hand over the documents required for passport issuance to the office staff.

It is reminiscent of the Kabul airport trying to escape from Afghanistan after the US withdrawal in August.

Many people flocked to the notice in advance that the work will start from those who have already applied for documents.

On the first day, passport documents were not received properly.

Most of them are leaving Afghanistan to escape the worst economic conditions.

According to UN figures, poverty and hunger have displaced 500,000 people in recent months.

However, it is unclear whether this passport will be used normally in the international community.

Germany’s dpa news agency reported that it is unclear whether foreign governments will recognize the passport as the Taliban are not recognized by the international community as the legitimate leader of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, a Canadian daily newspaper reported that nearly 100 Afghans, including Canadian troops stationed in Afghanistan and locals and their families who worked at the diplomatic mission, are living in a group living in Anga, waiting to be sent to Canada.

The newspaper pointed out that it is not possible to predict when or when the Afghans who have helped the West will be able to leave the country.
