White House press secretary Jen Saki, who was not accompanied by US President Joe Biden’s European tour, has confirmed that he has been diagnosed with COVID-19.
He went into self-isolation before being diagnosed with a ‘breakthrough infection’ from his family, but there are also concerns about additional infections in the White House.

White House Press Secretary Jen Saki announced that he was infected with COVID-19 after not boarding the Air Force One of U.S. President Joe Biden, who departed for Rome to attend the G20 summit on the 28th local time.
In a statement and tweet, spokesperson Saki said the family had been in self-isolation since Wednesday 27th, when they tested positive.
After that, he said that the PCR test he received every day was negative until Saturday, but the test on Sunday was positive.
A spokesperson for Saki said that he is reporting his confirmation for the sake of transparency, and that he is suffering from mild symptoms thanks to the vaccine.
He said the last time he met President Biden was on Tuesday, the day before quarantine, and was wearing a mask at a distance of at least 1.8 meters.
He added that there had been no close contact with other White House staff since Wednesday.
All White House staff, including spokesperson Saki, have been vaccinated, and most of them have even received booster shots.
President Biden also gave the booster shot on September 27, shortly after the FDA approved the booster shot.
However, as the breakthrough infection was confirmed in the middle of the White House, PCR tests are being carried out every day for the White House staff who accompanied them on this overseas tour.
President Biden’s most recent test on Saturday came back negative.
Spokesperson Saki will recover and return to the White House after an additional 10 days of quarantine after testing negative.
