In October of last year, a ‘photo of a bundle of money’ appeared at the Gyeonggi-do government audit.
People’s Strength Rep. Kim Yong-pan released this photo saying, “It was part of the money that gang member Park Cheol-min gave to Seongnam Mayor at the time of Lee Jae-myung in 2015.”
“Attorney Young-ha Jang frequently interviewed Chul-min Park, who was in custody, and then reported it,” he said.

“As a condition of providing business preferential treatment, we provided illegal site funds to Governor Lee Jae-myung dozens of times, close to KRW 2 billion…”
At that time, the governor, who had only been 8 days since he was confirmed as the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly protested that Rep. Kim was spreading obvious false information by hiding behind the immunity privilege.

However, it turned out that the photo of this bundle of money that he handed over in 2015 was bragging about on social media, saying that in 2018, Mr. Park earned money from the rental car business.
Nevertheless, lawyer Jang said that he had interviewed Mr. Park again, held several press conferences, and repeatedly raised the suspicion of passing money to the governor.
The Democratic Party reported Park and others to the prosecution, which entrusted the case to the police.
It was confirmed that the police, who started the investigation, sent investigators to the Suwon Detention Center where Park was imprisoned yesterday and conducted a search and seizure.
Searches and seizures were also conducted at two other locations at the same time.
The crimes listed in the search and seizure warrant are violations of the Public Official Election Act and defamation.
The police seem to have recently confirmed the circumstances in which Park and others deliberately exposed false information with the purpose of defeating the presidential candidate Lee.
The police are known to have secured correspondence and interview records that Park exchanged with outsiders through a search and seizure.
The police plan to investigate Park and others as soon as the analysis of the confiscated material is finished.
