Twelve motorcyclists were caught by the police for speeding on national and local roads where the speed limit was 70 km/h.

Gyeonggi Pocheon Police Department announced that it arrested 12 men in their 20s to 40s on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act and sent 9 of them to the prosecution.

They are accused of driving at excessive speeds on National Route 47 in Pocheon, where the speed limit is 70 km/h, from 2021 to May of this year.

They raced at speeds ranging from 166 km/h to 237 km/h and filmed their dangerous driving with helmet cameras and uploaded the footage to YouTube.

He uploaded a video introducing the Pocheon area as a good place for running, and it was also called the Pocheon Autobahn.

Pocheon Police Department stated that this is the first case in which they directly tracked and investigated based on a video posted on YouTube, and that they found the motorcycle model and number and confirmed the owner’s information.

Lee Hyeong-geun, head of the traffic crime investigation team at Pocheon Police Station, said that they stated that they filmed and uploaded the video to preserve memories.

Police plan to introduce rear-facing surveillance equipment capable of detecting motorcycles on the highway in October.
