As of 00:00 today, the number of new COVID-19 patients was counted to be 3,120.
As of Sunday’s announcement, this is the highest number ever, and it is the first time that the number exceeded 3,000.
If we look at the number of confirmed cases in detail, there are 3,098 domestic cases and 22 imported cases.
By region, 1,315 in Seoul, 988 in Gyeonggi, and 203 in Incheon, 80% of the population was concentrated in the metropolitan area.
In addition, 86 in Busan, 76 in Gyeongsangnam-do, and 75 in Gangwon, etc., are also spreading nationwide.
As the number of patients continued to rise, the number of people waiting for more than a day in the metropolitan area to be assigned a hospital bed exceeded 800.
This is an increase of 145 people from yesterday.
The number of critically ill patients increased by 9, and the current 517 patients, and the utilization rate of critically ill beds in the metropolitan area is saturated at 81.5%.
In particular, I am concerned because there are many elderly patients, and the death toll increased by 30 in one day, bringing the total to 3,274.

Booster vaccinations for so-called ‘high-risk groups’ are also becoming important. What is the current situation?

An additional ‘booster shot’ after vaccination is complete.
About 41,000 people were vaccinated yesterday, bringing the total to 1.8 million.
In general, an additional vaccination is required because the immune effect decreases after 6 months after the completion of the vaccination.
The elderly over 60 years of age, residents of nursing hospitals, and those with underlying diseases are eligible even after 4 months of vaccination.
Priority vaccination occupations such as those in their 50s and police, military personnel, and flight attendants are given every 5 months, and those with weakened immune systems or those vaccinated with Janssen can get a booster shot after 2 months.
Looking at the status of general vaccination, the number of new first-time vaccinations increased by 26,000, and the number of those who completed the second vaccination was added by 38,000.
Accordingly, the vaccination rate relative to the population is 82.3% for the first dose and 78.9% for the completed vaccination.
The vaccination rate for those over 18 years of age is over 90%, but the vaccination rate for those under the age of 17 is 13.4%, which is remarkably low.
Concerns about mass infection are growing as elementary, middle and high schools are expected to return to school starting tomorrow.
The quarantine authorities are left to voluntarily vaccinate teenagers, but they are asking for active participation in vaccination as they have to live in groups at school.
