[사회]The rain has stopped, but damage is everywhere… “There is no big change in water level in the northernmost part”

[앵커]

As the rain stopped, all heavy rain warnings were lifted, but rain damage occurred everywhere.

The key is whether North Korea opens the floodgates of the Hwanggang Dam as the monsoon rains move north, but there is no major water level change at the northernmost point yet.

It seems that the rain has stopped there too. How is the situation at the site?

[기자]

The rain stopped, but the traces of the rain were still intact.

As the water overflows to the edge of the river, all the grass is lying on the floor.

You can also see some rubbish swept away in the water.

The water level is dropping, but the current is still strong.

If you look at the pillars of the bridge, you can see that the water filled up to the top of the pillars last night.

The flood warning that was issued at the Yeongpyeong Bridge in Yeongpyeongcheon Stream, a tributary of the Hantangang River in northern Gyeonggi Province, was lifted at 4 am this morning.

The flood warning level at Yeongpyeong Bridge is 4.5 m.

As of 8 a.m. this morning, the water level is still lowering to 2.7 meters.

As the rainy season entered a calming state, the flood warning issued at the Daegok Bridge in Seoul and the Jingwan Bridge in Namyangju, Gyeonggi were also lifted at dawn.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that there will be rain in northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon until this morning as the rainy season front goes up to the North.

The biggest concern is whether North Korea will open the floodgates of Hwanggang Dam without notice.

This is because, even two years ago, the residents of the border area suffered flood damage due to the unauthorized discharge of the Hwanggang Dam.

Currently, the water level of Gunnam Dam, which is the closest to Hwanggang Dam, has continued to decrease and is currently recording 27.6m.

The water level of Pilseung Bridge, located at the northernmost tip of the Imjin River, is also slowly dropping to the current level of 2.9m.

An official from the Ministry of Environment said that no major abnormalities have been observed so far, but the Pilseung Bridge, which is 7.5 m as the standard, continues to maintain the ‘interesting stage in response to a crisis in the border area’.

It is recommended that residents in the border area check whether there is a sudden change in the water level of the northernmost dam or bridge through the flood warning app.
